I am proud to share that Mary had shaved off some more time from the one mile run. We completed our one mile this morning at 10 min 59 sec. Even with Mary's bum ankle and my old lady hip we kept truckin' on and made it to the finish line.
It seems that many of us have injuries and it's a bit reminiscent of some of our shared history with roller derby. Ha! It's funny, though, that most of us have gotten injured just from running. At least with roller derby we had impressive stories of body checks or smashing into walls and railings. Running will get a person into cardio shape but it will take its toll on the body. We need to keep vigilant about making sure to take care of our bodies since running is so jarring to the body. I found some handy links to look at.
A link for yoga poses before your run:

Here is a link to some yoga moves that are great to do after a run:

Running will tighten up the muscles in your legs and as we know yoga is a great tool to lengthen those muscles.
This is a good one for me since I usually experience hip pains:

The basic suggestion is ice therapy directly onto the hip and also massage.
And one more link...just a basic injury prevention link from Runner's World...I really like this site:

Have a great weekend!

Those are great links ... and I entered sore calf in the injury site. Guess what? It said to continue to run (sort of). Well, alrighty then. I wrapped my leg and I'm going to the gym. :-) Thanks, Sonnie. I'll have my hot and cold pack ready to go.
11 minutes? Freakin' A! Great work.
Yes, thanks Sonnie! I entered my ankle in the "what hurts?" section also and got some great tips--mostly ice, asvil, rest, and stretch, but hey: that works for me. Goodbye sore ankle (I hope)!
Also, I am proud of us, too. I am going to try to run at least 20 minutes again tomorrow. This being a gimp is irritating me!
My knee is really starting to bother me, on the outside of my kneecap. Those are great sites. Runnersworld had great info about stretching. I need to be better educated or I could really hurt myself! I wish I could go to the gym, too, and have people who know what they're doing (you all seem to really have it going) show me what to do. I'll learn what I can from the internet.
